Lead Testing

The Marietta/Belpre area is marked as a high-risk area for lead poisoning. It is highly encouraged that households with young children between the ages of 1 and 2 years old complete this test if living in an older home. Lead poisoning is known to affect children’s brain development. Lead testing is offered by the health department the first Thursday of every month.

To make an appointment call 740-373-0611 Ext. 2308.

What to expect at your appointment:

  • A physician will order a blood test
  • Children in the Medicaid program are automatically tested
  • If high levels of lead are present, then the health department will get involved
  • We will provide a filter sweeper to remove lead paint from the building
  • We will help get other resources that may be needed

Blood Pressure Screening

We offer blood pressure screenings on every Monday of the month. For additional information about prices and specific times, please call Diane Drost at (740) 373-0611, ext 2312.
